WWOB in 2020

Ministry | Sunday, December 27th, 2020

2020 was probably the most challenging year most of us have ever endured! From the pandemic to racial unrest and protests to fires and hurricanes to a contentious election – everyone has been deeply impacted physically, emotionally and spiritually! It seems there is no returning to ‘normal’ after this year! Yet, even though the challenge is great – our God is greater!

Maryl n I in India

During this year, my prayer time and devotional time has greatly increased as I seek to find my way through all of this by God’s guidance. His Word has been a constant source of comfort and revelation. Like many of you, we have had to take a sabbatical from all international and national travel and most ministry except locally. I returned from a powerful time of ministry in India in February and I haven’t been able to travel for ministry since then. I have been privileged to participate in many video worship sessions (14 at this count) both leading and on the cello; plus leading two worship sets for a wonderful group in Malaysia (Dignity for Children Foundation)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlepM7vv_tU

Worshiping w our friends at Grace Chapel, Wilsonville, OR

We have celebrated a ton of birthdays, as well as our 46th anniversary and witnessed a few weddings. We have mourned for many dear friends who have passed including three great men and close friends who deeply impacted our lives! Pastor Earl Bradley was one of the first prophetic voices way back in the ’70s that helped change our direction and destiny in ministry. Pastor Mike Piper invited me to Brazil for my very first international ministry trip in 1987! We have ministered in Brazil now 5 times (in 12 cities) and have been blessed to minister in 25 nations because of that first trip! Pastor Danny Bonilla was one who prophetically helped me hone my message of worship – he even gave me topics to minister on that I had never considered. His voice still rings in my ears! We ministered alongside him and Gisselle many times over the years – every time was such a delight!

Maryl continues to deliver babies during all of this (life continues on!)! I am giving private music lessons (cello, piano, guitar, voice) as well as meeting in Zoom meetings and some local mentoring. I love talking/messaging with friends around the world to encourage and inspire each other during this difficult time. We really need each other right now! I thank God for faithful friends!

One scripture has kept me centered: Micah 6:8 He has shown you o man what is good and what does the Lord require of you – to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God! Justice, mercy and humilty: three things so needed in today’s world. I am hoping and praying for God’s grace to lead me through this year and to show me how to effect all three of those in every area and every relationship in my life. I choose Jesus. I choose His kingdom. I choose life. I choose the cross. And since I’m a worship guy, I choose to bend the weary knee, to lift the tired hand, to raise a broken voice to the One Who loves us most! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZaDIngAG-Y I pray you can do the same, as often as possible. Don’t quit. Don’t give up. He’s still King. He’s still Lord. He hasn’t given up on you or the world. Praise God!

While we would love your support during this financial challenge and certainly covet your prayers, I pray that you would remember the many missionaries all over the world who are struggling because of faltering support. Pray, send them a note of encouragement and at least a small gift to lift them up. God will prevail and His glory will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. You want to be a part of that! :)

We do hope to get back to in person ministry soon but are preparing materials, videos and resources to fill the gap in the meantime.

What does your support/donation do?

  • Finance our worship missionary work in poorer nations that otherwise would never be able to afford it.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment for these churches (i.e. sound equipment, keyboards, drums, mics, piano tuning kits, music, computers, software and books etc.)
  • Allow Worship Without Borders to reach any church regardless of their ability to cover expenses for a seminar.
  • Give us the ability to invest in other ministries that we encounter around the world.
  • Develop new materials to teach, instruct and release worship everywhere.

We are blessed to be where we are, for such a time as this. For His glory,

Your worship missionaries, Tim and Maryl Smith
