Steve Myall (worship pastor) writes:

“We were privileged to have Tim Smith come and teach the first Worship Without Borders seminar at our church (Columbia Heights Assembly, Longview, WA) in December 2006. As a worship team and choir we were looking for ways to get through some walls that we had hit, to see if Tim and Maryl could provide some input and help us get to that new level in blessing the Lord. Their willingness to come along side and provide input has been an extremely valuable tool of reference and will help us to achieve more goals than we had ever hoped for. They left us with a 6 page document with scenario possibilities, suggestions and edified the socks off the team. I don’t think I’ve ever been critiqued in such an edifying way; I’m still trying to figure out how they did that.

“On Friday night our worship team had a time in worship where Tim and Maryl did what he called an audition. They eavesdropped on the team, they were hanging out in the congregation listening and observing what we do as a team. What this meant in real terms is to see what we are about as a worship team, where our skills are, our weaknesses and strengths.

“Through the weekend they did as much listening as they did teaching. The fruit of that gave us some constructive advice to work from; from our sound itself to the way we present ourselves on the platform. Areas that we really need to work on were addressed with loving care.

“Most of all, we were given pointers to challenge each of us in a way that was do-able. His class on the New Song was practical as he put us in a position where we got to practice what he preached as soon as he was done teaching. His work with the choir went well, leaving us with a greater vision for what we could do in ministering to the Lord.

“I would highly recommend the Smith’s coming to you, so many seminars just leave you in such a short time frame as you return to your real world. This one altered us, we can’t go back. If you have any questions you would like to ask me regarding a Worship Without Borders seminar, please feel to call me anytime.
